Synopsis by Sean Hurley

Using archival footage, photographs, and narration to bring important historical events to life, the History of the 20th Century series recounts the moments and trends that have shaped the United States of the 21st century. History of the 20th Century, Vol. 9: 1970-1979 is a one-hour program that explores the complexities America faced over the waging of the Vietnam War, Nixon's resignation after the botched burglary attempt at the Watergate Hotel, the election of a peanut farmer from Georgia, Jimmy Carter, for president, and the hostage crisis in Iran that would drag on for a whole year, eventually paving the way for the election of Ronald Reagan.
