Synopsis by Janiss Garza

When writer Patty Hudson (June Elvidge) falls ill, her doctor recommends that she take it easy, and finds her a relaxing job as secretary to widower James Winthrop (W.T. Carleton). Winthrop, whose son (Sam Hardy) is an aviator in France, takes a liking to Patty. His sister (Marion Barney) and her daughter, Sally (Virginia Valli), think Patty is an interloper, and dangerous -- at least to them, since they want to get their hands on Winthrop's fortune. Patty doesn't want to be the center of a family feud, so she gives notice. Winthrop insists that she marry him, and she agrees, providing that she can renounce his fortune in favor of his son. When it is reported that Jim Winthrop has died in battle, it kills his father. Jim has actually survived the war, and when he returns home, he gives Patty a cool reception, since his aunt and niece have written nasty things about her. But eventually Jim realizes that Patty is completely innocent, and he falls in love with her himself. By the end of the picture, he has wed his father's pretty young widow.
