Only Charley Chase could wind up in jail as the result of his stamp collecting, and that's only the beginning of his woes in this picture. Charley has picked up the hobby in an attempt to please his girlfriend's father (Bud Jamison). He gets thrown in the clink because he tried carving a valuable stamp off the tire of a police car -- while it was moving. During his brief stay behind bars, Charley gets the bright idea of writing to the women listed in a mail order bride catalog -- that way he'll get stamps from all over the world. Not only does he get the stamps -- all the ladies he wrote letters to show up on the day he's finally marrying his girl (Iris Meredith). He hustles most of the unwanted women into a car, but his own convertible locks fenders with it, resulting in a hair-raising ride as Charley desperately tries to ditch the car behind him. This was Chase's last two-reeler for Columbia. It was released in July, 1940; Chase died of heart failure the month before.
