Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Filmmaker/environmentalist Gordon Eastman is the guiding hand -- the only guiding hand -- behind the colorful outdoor documentary High, Wild and Free. The film is a record of Eastman's eventful foray into the wilds and wilderness of British Columbia. Though none of the wildlife is particularly unusual, Eastman allows us to observe these Canadian denizens with a sense of freshness and nuance. In addition to producing and directing High, Wild and Free, Eastman also wrote the script, acted as cinematographer, and composed the musical score. In 1970, Eastman turned out the equally enjoyable follow-up The Savage Wild (1970).
