Warren Hull, who plays Hidden Enemy's stalwart hero, had just come to Monogram from starring in Columbia's delightful Mandrake the Magician. What a comedown, then, this ham fisted spy melodrama must have seemed in comparison. Hidden Enemy, truth be told, plays like a drawn out serial chapter but without the joie de vivre of a true action thriller. Only leading lady Kay Linaker, a fine actress-author whom Hollywood regularly misused, shows the least bit of spunk, not to mention rare intelligence, in her standard role of sleuthing girl reporter.
