Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Hero High originated as a segment of Viacom's Saturday morning series Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam. The title refers to a specialty school populated by aspiring superheroes: Captain California (Christopher Hensel), Gorgeous Gal (Becky Perle), Dirty Trixie (Mayo McCaslin), Misty Magic (Jere Fields), Rex Ruthless (John Berwick), Weatherman (John Venocour). While the group's adventures (two of which are featured in this cassette) were offered in animated cartoon form, the "live" Hero High student body showed up to sing rock 'n' roll tunes at the beginning and end of each episodes. Hero High was supposed to have been The Super Archies, but Filmation's rights to the "Archie" characters had lapsed by 1981. The title was then changed to Superhero High--until it was learned that DC Comics had copyrighted the word "superhero"!
