Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Director William E. Cohen helms this documentary about a child disfigured by severe burns. Rob Cole was seriously injured in a house fire, and after making it through a painful rehabilitation in a San Francisco hospital's burn unit, he faces ten years of plastic surgery. Cohen interviews Rob and his mother Maggie, lingering a little too long on the physical after-effects of Rob's burns, and asking an uneven array of questions. ("Do you love your mother?" is not especially insightful.) Clips of Rob at school and home, his mother's comments and reactions to videos of her son before the accident, and other aspects of the documentary balance some of these minuses.
