Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The same week that her 1915 starrer The Woman premiered in New York, the talented Lois Meredith was also seen in the Morosco/Boswoth release Help Wanted. The daughter of a laundress, pretty Gertie Meyers (Meredith) decides to contribute to the family coffers by taking a job as a stenographer. Gertie's libidinous middle-aged boss Jerrold D. Scott (Hobart Bosworth) can't seem to keep his hands off his new employee, but she is more interested in his stepson Jack (Owen Moore). When the elder Scott traps Gertie in the office after hours and tries to "exercise his prerogative," Jack steps in to rescue the girl. Using the knowledge of Scott Sr.'s libertine behavior to their advantage, Jack and Gertie are able to blackmail the old lech into giving his blessings to the marriage of Jack's sister Josephine (Helen Wolcott) and her poor-but-honest boyfriend Paul Montgomery (Carl Von Schiller). And, of course, Jack and Gertie themselves tie the knot at the end of the picture.
