Heart's Desire on AllMovie

The magnificent Austrian operatic tenor Richard Tauber is the star of the British Heart's Desire. Tauber is cast as Joseph Steidler, a Viennese beer-hall entertainer who finds success on the opera stages of London. He falls in love with the beautiful and aristocratic Frances Wilson (Leonara Corbett), but alas, her heart belongs to another. Down but not out, he returns to Vienna, where he is reunited with hometown sweetheart Anna (Kathleen Kelly). No one expected originality in Richard Tauber's British movie musicals; it was enough that he sang, and sang as often as humanly possible.
