Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Hanna (Rut Holm) is the housekeeper for a retired army officer (Carl Barcklind). Fed up with avaricious relatives, the irascible old man leaves his entire fortune to Hanna, despite the fact that he's been firing her every day for the past twenty years. The nearly wealthy servant is in for quite a lot of disdain and hostility from the jealous relatives, not to mention the snottiness of other millionaires who'd attained their fortunes by accident of birth. But Hanna manages to survive all this scorn, eventually putting her new-found wealth to good use by saving a farm from bankruptcy and smoothing the path for the young romantic leads. Hanna I Societen is proof positive that those supposedly dour Scandanavians can make optimistic films as well as anyone.
