Synopsis by Cammila Collar

This anime series follows with an unhurried pace the story of Tsukasa, a boy who wakes up to find himself physically within the universe of the massive Internet game called "The World." The series is constructed to reflect Tsukasa's experience; in a dreamlike space, each episode uses misrepresented information and red herrings to offer the viewer the same confusion that Tsukasa undergoes. More than a cyber thriller, .hack//SIGN uses layers of allegory and narrative to guide the audience through a journey of emotional and spiritual questions. Tsukasa must examine his own internal life just as much as he does the world around him in order to determine where one world ends and another begins. The acclaimed soundtrack to .hack//SIGN was composed by Yuki Kajiura who is also responsible for the soundtrack to Noir.
