Based on a similar premise to the original Gunbuster, Gunbuster 2 presupposes that while the events at the end of the original series eradicated the star system that the warring aliens came from, the battle still continues. Now, children and young adults with special psychic abilities pilot mechas to combat the aliens. One hopeful pilot is a small-town girl named Nono who comes to the big city to make her dream come true. But can Nono really summon the power to threaten such a hostile race? Will humanity survive with its protection in the hands of kids?
