In one of the cleverest "clip show" ploys in TV sitcom history, the first half of this two-part "retrospective" episode (originally telecast as a single hour-long special) is narrated by several otherwise inanimate household objects in the Seaver home. Facing the possibility of being tossed in the garbage during spring cleaning, these objects fondly recall past events in the lives of the human members of the family. Highlights include excerpts from such previous episodes as "Charity Begins at Home", "Reputation", "Some Enchanted Evening" and "Confidentially Yours".
