This video is part of a series that presents the history of some of the finest airplanes in the United States military arsenal. The program includes a tour of each plane, personal recollections by the personnel who served on board the aircraft, and exciting archival film footage of flight missions. This episode looks at the B-17 Flying Fortress, which had a bomb load of 4,000 pounds and nine machine guns. It first saw action in World War II when it was used by the British Royal Air Force in 1941. Later, in the Pacific theater, the Japanese came to fear the four-engine fighter.
