Synopsis by Mark Deming

An ordinary guy decides its time to become a thief in this dark comedy from Germany. Frederik (Fabian Hinrichs) is a nebbishy loan officer at a bank who has been drowning himself in his work ever since he was dumped by his girlfriend Nadine (Nora von Waldstaetten) several years before. Frederik's dedication to his job takes a serious hit when he tells a client he's been declined for a loan, and the client responds by pulling out a pistol and blowing his own brains out. Frederik begins questioning the value of the conventional life he's led, and when he meets and old school friend, Vince (Juergen Vogel), and learns he's been pursuing an on-and-off career in breaking and entering, Frederik begs for a crash course in larceny. As Frederik strives to become mad, bad and dangerous, his skills as a criminal don't keep pace with his ambitions even as he tries to impress Nadine with his new life as an outlaw. Schwerkraft (aka Gravity) was an official selection at the 2010 Seattle Film Festival, where the jury cited director Maximilian Erlenwein with a special mention in the New Directors Competition.
