In this Greek romantic tragedy a young shepherd is entangled in a tussle between the two disparate women who want him. One is a wealthy, domineering widow. The other is a humble but beautiful girl whom the shepherd truly loves. The predatory widow successfully seduces the young man away from his true-love. When he finally understands her evil game, he tries to return to his simple girl, but unfortunately, the distraught young lass has poisoned herself and the shepherd is truly alone.
