A father who has placed his hope for future generations on the shoulders of his bright young son attempts to help the young boy straighten out his priorities in this true story of family sacrifice and a father's love. A widowed father lacking the funds to finance an education for both of his children sends his son to school while his daughter toils in the family fields. When the young boy receives top honors in a national Olympic chemistry competition, the choice he must make between academia and family devotion threatens to tear the already troubled family even further apart.
