Synopsis by Michael Hastings
For the Dresden Staatskapelle's 450th anniversary, conductor Giuseppe Sinopoli decided to create a series of concerts called Dreampaths of Music to commemorate the milestone. This installment, Two Eyes of Hours, sets Strauss' Metamorphosen (among other pieces) to images of Egypt, drawing parallels between the European composition and the land of the pyramids.
