Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The 56-minute documentary German Night Flyers caters to World War II history buffs with a protracted study of the Nazi zerstorers. The Herman Goering-conceived Bf-110 aircraft were literally "heavy destroyers," built for long-range, widespread destruction with heightened speed and an oversized body. Because these craft failed to equal the maneuverability of the RAF dogfighter planes, Goering had his men revamp them for covert night flights. German Night Flyers compiles historical footage of these craft operating during daylight and nighttime hours, and thus evaluates their impact in Allied-Axis battles.
