Geneshaft takes place in a world where human kind has responded to the threat of distruction and disease with the power of the human genome. Genetic manipulation is behind nearly every element of society, replacing evolution with the carefully laid plans of human kind. Taking advantage of the female ability to control agression, women are populated to outnumber men by a ratio of nine to one, and a few very special women make up a task force called The Shaft. They are sent to investigate the alien force behind a mysterious ring that has appeared ominously close to the Earth. Geneshaft mixes cell-shaded animation with CGI to achieve a unique look and feel.
