Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Andromeda plays host to HG (Matt Smith), a humanoid A.I. emissary from a machine-based society. Possessing the ability to divide himself up into smaller computerized components, HG prepares to take over Andromeda on behalf of the Consensus of Parts. But once he has experienced "real life," rather than the artificial variety, HG turns against the Consensus and helps the crew defend themselves -- even if it means his own destruction. "The Sum of Its Parts" originally aired on February 26, 2001.
