The troops of the Experimentation Company land safely at Narita airport, but Colonel Hayakawa is surprised to discover that they are to be confined by Special Services for security reasons. The Gowa brothers, both civilians, are free to go. Yushiro wants to stay with the team, but they encourage him to go with his brother to avoid the suspicious quarantine. After the Gowas leave, the soldiers are told that the TAs will be formally announced soon, and they are being held to prevent leaks to the public. As he leaves, the Special Services man lets slip that the Gowa corporation may have been developing TAs for reasons other than national defense -- and that Yushiro is referred to by others at Gowa as "the subject." Elsewhere, Kazukiyo Gowa is meeting with an ally, a blind old man named Nishida. Nishida's ally, Colonel Hirokawa, thanks Gowa for his work toward accomplishing their true objective -- shaking Japan from its decadent, corrupt state, even if the current regime has to be overthrown to do it. Later that night, Miharu and other Symbol agents break into a Gowa facility to recover the captured sample and try to gather as much intelligence about Yushiro as possible. Miharu makes a startling discovery: Yushiro is listed as having died over eight years ago. (American release in 2000.)
