Synopsis by Hal Erickson
In this Australian spoof of a typical TV sports documentary, a film crew was given full access to the inner workings of the fictional SCCCG (Sydney Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games). In its satirical depiction of the politicking, bureaucracy, and egomania surrounding the planning of the upcoming Olympics, the series came surprisingly close to reality at times. The project was created for Australia's ABC network by John Clarke and Ross Stevenson, who also appeared onscreen with a talented troupe of farceurs. The weekly, 60-minute The Games was telecast in 1998, then again in 2000.
