Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

With the increasing success of multi-reel "feature films," the old-fashioned Biograph Company contracted the theatrical firm of Klaw & Erlanger to produce four- or five-reel features from their successful plays. The Gambler of the West, by Owen Davis, is the none-too-original story of a girl (Linda Arvidson) searching for her long lost brother who, as it turns out, has been raised by the Indian tribe that abducted him in childhood. This four-reel Western melodrama featured well-known if usually anonymous Biograph players such as Arvidson (aka Mrs. D.W. Griffith), Charles West, Gertrude Robinson, and Alfred Paget. The film is preserved in the paper print collection of the Library of Congress.
