Synopsis by Hal Erickson

A Richard Harding Davis yarn formed the basis of the five-reel Pathe production The Galloper. The title character, played by Melville Stewart, is a fearless war correspondent, undoubtedly patterned after Davis himself. He has earned his nickname via his habit of "galloping" from one country to another, usually one step ahead of the invading army. One of the reasons for his peripatetic lifestyle is the fact that he is being pursued by a vengeful ex-wife and her battery of alimony lawyers. In Athens, the Galloper's former missus and her minions finally converge upon him, whereupon he wearily resigns from his job, passing the torch to adventure-loving millionaire Clifton Crawford . As the new Galloper, Crawford experiences all manner of excitement but eventually agrees to give it all up for the love of pretty Red Cross nurse Rye Alexander.
