Forest King on AllMovie

Featuring L. M. Wells (1862-1923), a well-known rancher, author and vaudeville raconteur, The Forest King was filmed on location in the Pacific Northeast by F. G. Hartman's Pacific Film Co. A logging-camp drama, the film depicted how Wells, as Martin Webb, awards half ownership to his lumber mill to Bob Lanier (Reed Chapman, his prospective son-in-law. But Martin dies suddenly and evil manager Eugene Stratton (Arthur Millett) assumes total control of the mill. Bob, meanwhile, comes to the aid of pretty mill-worker Leslie Houston (Lillian Hall), a situation that does not sit well with Evelyn Webb (Dahlia Pears), who arranges to have Leslie kidnapped. The kidnapper, lumberjack Steve Hawkin (Joe Ray), inadvertently set off a trap set for Bob by the scheming Stratton and the resulting explosion kills both Hawkin and the manager. Written by B-Western specialist L. V. Jefferson, The Forest King was released on states rights in March of 1922.
