Synopsis by Janiss Garza
In this adaptation of the lighthearted Randolph Chesters novel, Hale Hamilton plays Johnny Gamble. Johnny's business, the Gamble Irrigation Company, has been thoroughly swindled by his partner, Paul Gresham (Gilbert Douglas). Two things inspire Johnny to make a financial comeback -- a 50 to 1 win at a racetrack and Constance Joy (Lucille Lee Stewart). He is determined to wed Constance; the only problem is that she will inherit a million dollars on her next birthday -- a month and a half away -- but only if she marries the villainous Gresham. Johnny sets out to make a million dollars himself before then so that she will lose nothing by marrying him. Gresham knows of the plan and does everything to foil it. Johnny overcomes most of this, but in the end, he is still fifteen thousand dollars short. Constance solves this by offering to pay him that amount for a kiss. When he objects she waves a gun and playfully forces him to "earn" the money.
