The professional and personal achievements of former Canadian prime minister Lester B. Pearson were grist for the mills of this Sunday-evening CBC series. Interviewed by Bernard Ostry, Pearson discussed his life and career from WWII onward, with special emphasis on his years in the diplomatic corps and his role in the Suez crisis. Though Pearson understandably soft-pedaled the problems in his administration, he was more than willing to talk about his trials and tribulations with the separatists in Québec. The 13 half-hour episodes of First Person Singular: Pearson -- The Memoirs of a Prime Minister originally aired from May 27 to August 19, 1973, and were rebroadcast by the CBC from October 23, 1974 to January 15, 1975.
