Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Firefly (Alma Reubens) is a cabaret entertainer who is sent by her manager to take a position in the boomtown of Baxter. What she doesn't know is that Baxter's boom days are over, and when she arrives with Danny Ward (Charles Gunn), who fell off the train during a drunken poker game, they find the town deserted. Almost deserted, that is -- it isn't long before the town's old mayor, "Tough Luck" Baxter (Walt Whitman) arrives with his gambling pal, Happy Jack Clarke (Jack Curtis). Baxter is sure that he will strike gold once again, and Firefly takes care of the men while they work on the claim. Sure enough, they strike gold, and everyone becomes rich. The town comes back to life, and Firefly becomes the star entertainer. Unfortunately, that's when her parasite of a husband, Bert Wilcox (Darrel Foss), shows up. In spite of Baxter's attempts to save her, she decides it's her duty to stick by her husband. They leave the town, but he takes the money and water and leaves her in the desert to die. Baxter, Happy Jack, and the ever-present Ward save her, while Wilcox is fatally bitten by a rattlesnake. This leaves Firefly free to accept Ward's proposal.
