Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This dark comedy about a frantic arms merchant was a daring film for comedian Alberto Sordi to have made. Not only does he star in it, he also wrote much of the screenplay and directed the film. Shuttling between African nations and Milan, he peddles arms to despots and the revolutionaries who oppose them. While his family has some moral qualms about his line of work, they are increasingly addicted to the lavish lifestyle it brings them; in a family meeting, they vote for him to continue.
