Multi-media artist Knut Asdam directed this short study in urban alienation. Filter City follows two women as they make their way through the city, one African-American and the other of European heritage. The women share stories of the travails of their daily lives, but there's a clear emotional distance between the two and the more they talk, the less they appear to communicate. Filter City was screened in competition at the 2007 Rotterdam International Film Festival and later appeared at a number of major art galleries as part of Asdam's installations.
