Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This video is one in a British film series that tells the story of England's successful battle against the aggression of Hitler's Germany in World War II. The film features never-before-seen film footage, much of it from archives in England and Eastern Europe, bearing witness to the events that helped shape modern history. The film is a testament to the efforts of British Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding. The commander organized and carried out the air strategy that saved Britain from Hitler's domination. Dowding and his second-in-command, Keith Parks, and the brave men and women who fought in the summer of 1940, dealt Germany its first defeat of the war, and gave new hope to the free world.
