Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

After the aunt who raised her moves to the U.S., Fanny (Jirina Bohdalova) is taken in by her sister, Jirina (Jirina Jiraskova). Fanny is a gentle soul and is mildly retarded. The sister, who had up until then been having a more-or-less normal life for a single professional woman, finds that her carefully arranged life disintegrates rapidly with Fanny around. For one thing, stray animals are drawn to her (and she to them), and soon the household must cope with a newly adopted cat and dog. Jirina tries to maintain order, which makes Fanny unhappy enough to run away. When this effort to escape the new regime fails, Fanny has to give up her adopted dog, with tragic consequences. This film is in the Czech language.
