Faking It (2003)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Based on a popular British series of the same name, the American cable TV weekly Faking It pulled a "Henry Higgins" on each and every episode. The premise: A person living in a certain town and working in a certain profession would, over a period of weeks, be trained to live in another town in an entirely different profession -- with a new name and "background." Example: On the first episode, a Boston carpenter was transformed into a Los Angeles interior designer -- and the metamorphosis was astonishingly complete, save for a few amusing and embarrassing gaffes. Later episodes found a polo player reinvented as a cowboy, a computer worker morphed into a cheerleader, and so forth. Faking It made its American bow on March 7, 2003.
