Synopsis by Janiss Garza
When Octavia Bassett (Vivian Martin), a lively American girl, goes to visit her Aunt Belinda (Jane Wolff) in the staid English town of Slowbridge, all hell breaks loose. The women are shocked by her flashy clothes and outrageous behavior, while the men find her charming, even the town's minister (William Hutchinson). Octavia saves Lucia Theobald (Mae Busch) from a loveless engagement and helps her unite with manufacturer Burmistone (Al Paget), much to the horror of the girl's titled grandmother, Lady Theobald (Josephine Crowell). The overthrown suitor, Captain Harold (Charles Gerrard), can't decide whether he loves Octavia or is being driven mad by her. His decision is made for him when Octavia's fiancée, Jack Belasys (Douglas MacLean), arrives from the States to fetch her. This film was based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
