Synopsis by Betsy Boyd

Part of the Eyes on the Prize documentary series, which chronicles the American civil rights struggle, Eyes on the Prize: Fighting Back (1957-1962) discusses the 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, which allowed black students to attend formerly all-white schools, and the ensuing struggle for power between the Southern states and the United States government. When Southern-elected officials rejected the Supreme Court ruling, Southern black students seemed to have nowhere left to turn for assistance. Thanks to activism at its bravest, ignorance finally lost out, and black students in the South claimed their rightful place at the desks of public schools.
