synopsis
Based on a novel by Luis Spota, this standard Mexican melodrama details the slow rise to fame and fortune of Olga Lang (Maria Felix), a celebrated movie star. As a part of the message, elaborate gowns and props convey the glitzy, literally superficial (surface) glamor that fame can bring to an otherwise ordinary person -- ordinary, except for good looks and a driving ambition to succeed in films. Olga's private life is filled with one admiring male after another, yet by the time she has climbed her way to the top of the pile, fame and fortune turn out to be hollow inside.
