Alice Lake plays a con artist who reforms in this melodrama. She's Sally Dolan, better known as Chicago Sal, and one night, while she and Willie Boy Toval, the boss of the ring (Ben Hewlett) are heading south, he decides to rob a farmhouse. She tries to stop him, and he gets away while she is caught. The owner of the farm, Steve MacLaren (Milton Sills), doesn't want to prosecute and instead he suggests that she work off the money stolen by doing chores around the farm. Sal finds herself falling in love with MacLaren, and that's a good enough excuse for her to run away back to Chicago. She joins up with Willie and cabaret owner Diamond Jim Favre (Ralph Lewis) once again, but MacLaren follows after her. He finds her just as the cops have tracked down the gang and he winds up in jail because he helps her to escape. MacLaren has brought his grandmother (Gertrude Claire) and adopted little boy (Richard Headrick) with him and Sal goes to visit them. Their apartment building catches fire, and MacLaren gets out of jail just in time to save them, and Sal. Sal finally believes she's worthy of MacLaren's love and, with a new outlook on life, she returns to the farm with him.
