synopsis
In this Japanese psychological drama, based on Yukio Mishima's fact-based novel, an obsessive young priest becomes convinced that his beloved temple is being polluted by corruption. To cleanse the sacred ground the fanatical novitiate ritually burns down the temple and then commits suicide.
