Synopsis by Mark Deming

Before he became the King of Rock and Roll and one of the most famous musicians of the 20th Century, Elvis Presley was just another small town boy who drove a truck and dreamed of someday making something of himself as a singer. And like many small town boys, Elvis had a girlfriend -- June Juanico, a pretty young woman from Biloxi, Mississippi whom Elvis met when he played a show there before he became a star. Presley and Juanico became very close and were briefly engaged, but by the end of 1957, Elvis was the biggest thing in show business ... and June was no longer his girlfriend. Elvis and June: A Love Story is a documentary that looks back at Elvis's first great romance, and the rise to fame that brought him to the world but also helped drive them apart. Elvis and June: A Love Story features interviews with June Juanico, members of her family, Presely confidante George Klein, and two members of Elvis's original band, Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana.
