A high-powered woman well-established on the top rungs of one of Hong Kong's business ladders is faced with a series of crises that begin to shake her stability and threaten her future. She is separated from her husband, but very devoted to her son at home. The pressures of her personal and professional life keep her chain smoking and dependent on pills for either a quick boost or the opposite. When she hires an up-and-coming young woman who is still a novice in the business world, little does she know that this woman is as ambitious as she is manipulative, and almost from the beginning, the girl starts to infringe on her "boss's" territory. Soon the businesswoman's home life and professional standing begin to suffer, with no viable way for her to remedy the situation.
