Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Friday (Jack Webb) and Smith (Ben Alexander) investigate when a "Jane Doe" is found dead of chloroform poisoning. It looks like a case of suicide until the victim's 16-year-old son (Jeff Stevens) identifies the woman, and reveals that she had been wearing an expensive necklace which is now missing. The clues lead to a San Diego pawnshop--and a hitherto unsuspected killer. Lee Marvin makes a meal of his minor role as a red-herring suspect with a morbid lack of self-esteem. This episode is based on the Dragnet radio broadcast of June 5, 1952.
