When odd reports of a four-legged purse-snatcher victimizing local women begin to surface, the captain puts Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) on the case. Eyewitness accounts can't seem to agree on a description of the dog in question, and policewoman Dorothy Miller (Merry Anders) soon steps in to offer the confounded lawmen some assistance. Staking-out the local bus stops where the purse-snatchings have been reported, the trio soon catches a glimpse of one of the mutts in action. Subsequently seeing a man quickly placing the dog in his car and speeding off, Friday and Gannon radio for assistance and the driver is quickly apprehended. It soon becomes clear why the victim's descriptions were so conflicting -- the driver had been using four different dogs to commit the crimes.
