When a pair of malicious con men devise a scheme to swindle elderly victims by having them withdraw their funds in order to "catch an embezzler," Sgt. Joe Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan) enlist the aid of a sharp senior citizen with a fondness of detective magazines to help crack the case. Though the victims are unable to identify the perpetrators' mug shots due to failing eyesight, the quick-thinking lawmen have the photos blown up and soon find they are on the right track. With Bill posing as an elderly woman's son, the two make a quick and clean bust when the lowlife scammers show up to claim another victim.
