Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The title of this Turkish drama roughly translates to Don't Let Them Shoot the Kite. The story is set in a Turkish women's prison, where it isn't uncommon for the prisoners to bear and raise children. Inmate Inci (Nur Surer) forms a strong bond with the neglected 5-year-old son of another prisoner. Crestfallen when Inci is pardoned, the boy finds solace in fantasizing that he keeps in contact with her by means of a magical kite. The Istanbul Film Festival honored Ucurtmayi Vurmasinler with the "Best Turkish Picture of the Year" award.
