This poorly made, low-budget drama is definitely one of Edmund Goulding's lesser early screenwriting credits. Banker Hugo Harman (Frank Losee) becomes bitter when his wife leaves him for another man. Twenty years later he has buried his hurt by treating women like playthings. There is a clerk working at his office, Jack Gray (William Desmond), and because he shows promise, Harman takes an interest in him. Harman is disappointed, however, to discover that he has a wife, Louise (Marguerite Clayton). Since Harman has come to believe that wives are a hindrance for a businessman, he resolves to destroy their marriage. He puts Louise up in an apartment for several weeks and provides her with luxuries in the belief that all females have their price; meanwhile, he tries to get Gray interested in other women. His scheme fails, however, and the couple are happy to get back together. They forgive Harman for his actions and reunite him with his wife (Marion Elmore), who has been living in poverty.
