Synopsis by Andrea LeVasseur

American independent filmmakers Judy Wilder and Laura Barton direct the comedic documentary Dildo Diaries, which dares to ask the question "Who has ever been killed by a dildo?" Focusing on the Texas sodomy laws that were finally invalidated by the Supreme Court in 2003, the film takes a lighthearted approach to exposing the absurdity of a state where guns are legal but dildos are not. The film includes footage of debates from the Texas House of Representatives and other governmental legislation attempting to ban consensual sexual acts. Much is made of the needlessly complicated Texas law prohibiting the sale of sex toys for anything other than educational use. Commentary is provided by journalist Molly Ivins, performance artist/activist Annie Sprinkle, and sex-positive author Carol Queen. Dildo Diaries was shown at the 2003 San Francisco Lesbian & Gay Film Festival.
