Die Todliche Doris: Gehorlose Musik (2006)

Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Influential Berlin-based avant-garde musical trio Die Tödliche Doris garnered a sizable following in the 1980s thanks to their effective blending of post-punk conventions and performance-art theatrics. Though their 1981 debut Gehörlose Musik has long been out of print, founding member Wolfgang Müller found an ingenious means of getting the album back into the public eye. In this re-issue, the original Gehörlose Musik has been reinterpreted as "soundless music" with the aid of sign-language translators Andrea Schulz and Dina Tabbert, who use signs and gestures to convey the true meaning of the songs.
