Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
So hot when it first came out in 1980 that this long-titled documentary on an atomic power plant and nuclear waste site in West Germany was banned from West German television stations. Directors Roswitha Ziegler, Niels-Christian Bolbrinker, and Bernd Westphal followed the nuclear power plant project in Gorleben between the years of 1977 and 1979. The main thrust of the documentary is not the power plant alone, but an enormous protest march staged against the establishment of a nuclear waste site near the East German border. At the time this documentary was completed, the issues revolving around the atomic plant and the nuclear waste site were far from resolved.
