Ruth Wayne (Hazel Dawn) marries penniless Robert Trent (E.K. Lincoln), while her sister Marion Violet Palmer) marries Teddy Grandin (Wedgewood Nowell) for his wealth. An old admirer of Ruth's, Stephen Bond (Bradley Barker), sends Trent out West to work and lavishes attention and gifts on Ruth. Although the friendship is platonic, Marion stirs up Trent's suspicions when he returns. Meanwhile, Ruth finds out about an illegitimate child who she believes is her husband's. Everything is cleared up when it is discovered that the baby is Bond's, and that he has an absent wife who returns to him when her first husband, a con, is killed. Ruth and Trent reunite and begin their lives over again.
